DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education at Utah State University is committed to advancing the awareness and knowledge of normal and disordered processes of communication, as well as the clinical and educational practices that effectively meet the communication and academic needs of children and adults with communication differences and disorders.
WE FULFILL THIS MISSION BY:
- Providing educational programs that span the areas of normal and disordered language, speech, and hearing (including physiological, acoustic, perceptual, linguistic, cognitive, and cultural processes).
- Providing professional training programs in audiology, deaf education and speech-language pathology that develop educators, clinicians and scholars who make evidence-based decisions and communicate effectively in a variety of contexts.
- Providing local, state, national and international service to individuals with communication differences and disorders.
- Conducting research to advance knowledge of human communication and its disorders and contribute to the advancement of the professions of audiology, deaf education, and speech-language pathology.
AUDIOLOGY DIVISION MISSION STATEMENT
The Audiology program prepares doctors of audiology students to evaluate and treat hearing and balance disorders through education, research and clinical experiences for individuals throughout the lifespan.
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY DIVISION MISSION STATEMENT
The speech language pathology masters’ programs prepare students to evaluate and treat speech and language disorders through education, research and clinical experiences for individuals throughout the lifespan.
