Audiologists are health care professionals engaged in the practice of promoting healthy hearing, communication competency, and quality of life for persons of all ages through the prevention, identification, assessment, and rehabilitation of hearing problems, problems of auditory function, balance disorders, and problems with other systems related to hearing and balance. The audiology clinics at Utah State University offer services such as hearing evaluations for individuals of all ages, hearing aid selections, fittings, and management, specialized testing for the diagnosis of hearing impairment in the pediatric population, pre- and post-management for cochlear implant clients, balance function testing, tinnitus (ringing in the ears) treatment, and hearing assistive technology (such as telephone ringers and FM microphone systems) selections for persons with hearing impairment. All diagnostic and counseling services are provided by doctoral-level student clinicians under the direct supervision of licensed and certified audiology faculty members of the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education.
