Online Post Bachelor's Program

The Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education (COMDDE) at Utah State University has developed a second bachelor's degree program for students interested in speech-language pathology or audiology to help fill the critical need for masters and doctoral level professionals in the field.   If you already hold a bachelor's degree and would like to pursue these professions, you may be lacking the required undergraduate prerequisites needed to be considered for admission into graduate programs. The second bachelor's degree also provides courses for students who may need to retake courses or establish core courses for a master's degree.

This second bachelors degree program consists of twelve COMD online courses. Occasionally additional general education courses may be required if they were were not completed in a previous degree.  The entire program may be completed in three semesters but can be "stretched" out over a longer period if desired.

The distance education COMDDE bachelor’s degree programs are accredited under the university's accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

All students are responsible to know the departmental Online Degree Policies.

Prior to beginning their educational programs, students should contact the state(s) where they anticipate being employed to understand the potential job market and the competitiveness for positions as speech-language assistants or technicians.  Students are also advised to carefully examine graduate school entrance requirements. Seats in graduate school for the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology are highly competitive.
